Our Story
Brian and I have been working with clay making art together since 1999. Brian has a background in painting and drawing and I have a background in pottery, our jewelry is a happy blend for the two. Our pieces are inspired by the ancient knot work designs of the Celts. We sell our work at about fifteen shows a year all across the country, a few shops and galleries and on the web. Being a full time artist is a huge adventure that we love!
The Process
Each piece is crafted from stoneware clay by hand and allowed to dry. Pieces are then fired in a kiln to almost 2,000 degrees. The glaze color is then applied to the piece and it is fired again. The designs on the piece begin as an illustration, a silk screen is made from the illustration. The designs are silk screened with Iron oxide, and transferred onto the glazed surface. Each piece is then given a third firing to fuse the design into the glaze.
Our Studio
"The Forge" is located in an old iron forge in Lansing Michigan where car parts used to be made.
